Our laying flock lives in a mobile coop surrounded by a lightweight fence to create a large but safe yard for them to roam freely. This setup is moved weekly to new areas of the ranch. The birds are essential to our management plan since their waste is extremely high in valuable soil nutrients like nitrogen. They also help keep the bug population down. All hens and roosters are raised from day-old chicks purchased from a local hatchery in Cameron, TX. Their high-quality feed comes from a local producer in Hamilton, TX.
